COVID 19 Update July 3, 2020

As BC has moved in Phase 3 of the recovery plan, LMNH has reviewed and integrated guidelines from WorkSafe BC, Provincial Child Care and Public Health, BC Centre for Disease Control and Vancouver Coastal Health in order to gradually open up more in-person programming in a scaled down version. Starting July 6, all of our child care programs, our summer day camp, a family program and the community garden at Riley Park and some in-person appointments will be reopened at the various sites around the community. We have developed a COVID Health and Safety Plan that identifies and addresses the inherent risks. This plan is posted on our website. We will be providing updates as the situation evolves.

As the gradual in-person reopening is going ahead on July 6, LMNH will continue to offer online and phone services remotely to those we cannot accommodate in person. As long as there is uncertainty related to the transmission of the virus, we will be considering a combination of service delivery models that enables us to support participants in the community.

For the past few months and into the future, LMNH has redeployed staff and volunteers to try to ensure that seniors and families that are food insecure received gift cards for local grocers and food baskets. This has been possible through funding from Canada Food Centre and HelpAge Canada. We have also received funding from United Way of the Lower Mainland, City of Vancouver, Agriculture Canada, Vancouver Food Bank and the Alexandra Foundation to help us purchase equipment, supplies and signage, etc. to be able to better serve the community. We thank them and all our government and non-government funders for supporting LMNH and the community during these unprecedented times.
