COVID 19 Update October 10, 2020

Little Mountain Neighbourhood House is implementing a hybrid model of delivering on-line and in-person programming. Due to the increase of participants in the building LMNH is upgrading health and safety protocols and adding more cleaning services on-site while continuing with education and training for staff, volunteers, and participants.

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) will return to the classroom in our revised hybrid program. The program will involve small, physically-distanced in classroom learning supplemented with homework. LINC will also offer online-only classes.

Childminding for LINC student’s children will also resume. On-line parents and tots will also be offered.

The Settlement Department will offer Settlement and Employment Workshops -, some in-person and online sessions. One – one in-person meeting with our settlement workers will be by appointment only.

Foodbank, food baskets will be available every Friday to a limited number of vulnerable individuals and families that require support due to the pandemic. Referred participants can pick up a mix of fresh produce and non-perishable items from the neighborhood house. Some delivery services will be provided for those with mobility issues.

The Family Resource Program will be offering family programs, both indoor and outdoor weekly sessions. Weekly registration-only sessions at the Riley Park Community Garden will provide opportunities to learn more about gardening with a variety of guest facilitators.

Indoor registration-only “Drop-In” programs are happening every Friday. Three sessions are happening, offering shorter smaller-group sessions for families to reduce contact.

Child care programs will expand capacity, returning to regular or near regular levels this Fall.

LMNH will be monitoring the situation closely, ready to modify protocols and practices as needed to create a safe and healthy environment for everyone. Enhanced cleaning and health and safety protocols are in place in order to provide a safe, fun, and stimulating environment for adults, families, and children in the program.

We encourage your feedback as we adjust to the ‘new normal’ at the Neighbourhood House.
